The staff of Café Amici, East End Café and The Cellar invited members of the local hospitality industry to celebrate the debut of St. Thomas’ newest venue, “The Room”.
A classically-styled space featuring gold-burnished frames and filigree-embossed ceilings greeted us. At a well-stocked bar to the right, a specially-selected lineup of cocktails refreshed everyone as conversations unraveled the travails of our days. The staff was on point, granting us a tour of the adjacent eateries “The Cellar”, fashioned after an intimate wine cellar, and “East End Café”, a lush venture into the Italian countryside.
As we moved about The Room, we were treated to a continuous slide show of various menu items from both restaurants, along with a vision of a fully-dressed table for that special occasion. Stylish touches even extended to the … ahem… facilities!
Our appetites were alternately whetted and sated with a variety of tastes, including a Mahi/Grouper ceviche served in a pony with a crisp tortilla chip; Crostini festooned in sauce and a bold Romano sliver; Tuna sashimi on light cushion of wasabi-spiked edamame hummus; a savory Meatball bathed in a signature marinara; creamy risotto punctuated by delectable corn kernels…
The East End Café features family-style Italian menu items, while The Cellar boasts a daring and eclectic lineup which includes dishes as diverse as Beef Wellington, Pan-Roasted Sea Bass, and Kobe Beef. Both the Café and the Cellar provide vegetarian selections, and lighter fare for any palate. An extensive wine list compliments all dishes, with expert guidance always. The Room, with its own private bar, is also available alongside the private function and dining options available at the Café and the Cellar.
The “Taste”, as they called it… was delightful.
