The United States Virgin Islands are in the midst of a most interesting season, largely due to increased flights from airlines such as American Airlines and Jet Blue, and great new ways to enjoy the islands!
The USVI Department of Tourism is in the news (see Travel Weekly), with reports of more ways to get here and the emergence of more attractions, including Hassel Island Historic District, within the St. Thomas harbor of Charlotte Amalie. The Hassel Island Preservation Trust along with the VI National Park is busy restoring the 136-acre isle, now with 4 hiking trails open; visitors are already exploring the island, while the grand opening is slated for Fall 2012.
St. Thomas is also now the home of Magic Ice, a sister attraction to the original Magic Ice in Norway. We have a review of the grand opening on our blog - read "Magic Ice Extraordinary!" by Judith Wheatley, the Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Taxicab Commission.
