Regardless of the season, promoting the islands should be a year-'round event. That's why we just had to share a recent post on Caribbean360 about Grenada's latest campaign.

This latest push by Grenada's Department of Tourism not only highlights Olympic 400-meter champion (Gold medalist) Kirani James, who also won Grenada's first Olympic medal; it also shares James' top 10 things to do when he is at home.

The campaign is entitled Celebration of Kirani: Celebration of Grenada, and utilizes the tagline, "Gracious Everyday."

Our Grenada family and the properties Swallow Villa and  Caribella both embody the true spirit of that phrase, and when the time comes for your to visit, you will echo that sentiment, we're quite sure!

Congrats to USVI Tourism Commish Doty on becoming CTO Chair

 

USVI Tourism Commissioner and CTO Chair Beverly Nicholson Doty

I'm very excited for U.S. Virgin Islands Commissioner of Tourism Beverly Nicholson Doty on her being elected Chair of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) - it's not only a high honor for Mrs. Doty, but a feather in the cap for the territory.

 

The announcement was made at the State of the Industry conference in St. Kitts early in October 2012.

"It is with great humility that I accept this vote of confidence in me and in the U.S. Virgin Islands from the CTO Council of Ministers and Commissioners of Tourism," Doty shared in a press release.

"I look forward to continuing the hard work of outgoing chairman Sen. Richard Skerritt of St. Kitts and Nevis and collaborating with each of the Caribbean's nations and territories to advance marketing, product and human development efforts through coordinated regional approaches."

Mighty Sparrow Honored in Grenada!

One of my all-time favorites, Soca master The Mighty Sparrow (Slinger Francisco), was recently honored in his birthplace of Grand Roy, on the island of Grenada! This is such a nice tribute to someone whose music has thrilled us all for 50 years.

Have you ever wondered about the origin of the photos you see shared on social media sites? We saw an article in Travel Weekly (image below from that article) about one of the  most popular dive sites in the world, the Grenada Underwater Sculpture Park.  You may have already seen images of what is arguably its most famous piece, 'Vicissitudes', commonly called the Circle of Children.
